A Local Non-Governmental Organization based in Agona Swedru in the Central Region, Action Against Rural Poverty (AARP-GH) in collaboration with Aquagro Ltd., a water management company has constructed boreholes for Teacher Ayeh and Mensaman, two deprived communities in the Upper West Akyem District and the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality, all in the Eastern Region.
The project, with a total cost of over of over $ 8,000.00 was funded by an Italian expatriate and philanthropist, Mr. Gianfranco Amaini.
Handing over the projects to the beneficiary communities, the Chief Executive Officer of Action Against Rural Poverty, Ms. Gladys Efua Kwatemaa Yamoah hinted that objective of the organization is not only to lend support to deprived communities, but also empower members of those communities, particularly women in the area of skill training.
According to her, her organization has offered various forms of support to numerous communities in the country, and assured that it will continue to liase with international donors to offer assistance to people in deprived communities.
The Chief Executive Officer of AQUAGRO, drillers of the borehole, Mr. Kofi Forson on his part advised members of the beneficiary communities to develop the culture of maintenance to ensure that the projects lasts for even generations unborn to benefit from it.
He said when that happens, it will help serve its intended purpose.
On his part, the Italian philanthropist, Mr. Gianfranco Amaini expressed his desire in giving back to the Ghanaian society by funding the construction of the boreholes.
At the Teacher Ayeh community, the Chief of the town, Nana Obeng Yaw III bestowed on Mr. Amaini a development Chief title with the stool name Nana Ayeh Kwesi i.
