The Chief of Mahodwe in Agona Swedru and Gyaasehen of the Agona Nyakrom Traditional Area, Nana Kwame Donkor III has warned against the excessive use of agro chemicals on crops by farmers.
Nana Kwame Donkor who is himself a farmer expressed concern about the application of various types of agro chemicals on crops contains harmful ingredients that affect the body as a result of their continuous intake.
According to the Chief, this could be attributed to the upsurge of various forms of strange diseases which were hitherto not known to the African continent.
He mentioned diseases such as stroke, hypertension among others which are now common among the people as some of diseases brought about as a result of the continuous intake of agro chemicals.
He said therefore appealed to the Government and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to properly regulate the importation of agro chemicals into the country as well as the Ghana Health Service to embark of massive national education on the dangers associated with the consumption of agro chemicals.
