The Agona West Municipal Environmental Health Officer, Mr. Freeman has vehemently denied media report that heaps of refuse left unattended to in some parts of the town was as a result of the failure of his office to deal with the situation.
Peaved Mr. Freeman who expressed shock about the story to this report disclosed that collection of refuse has been allocated to ZoomLion on contract by the Municipal Assembly, and is therefore not under the jurisdiction of his office.
He noted that his outfit has worked tiresly to ensure that the Municipality maintians its status as the neatest area in the Central Region, and will therefore not do anything to compromise this hard-won achievment.
When contacted, officials of ZoomLion in the town said they have called for back-up trucks to convey the refuse to the designated dumpiong site, but decline any further comment on the situation.
But some residents who spoke with this reporter on the problem said situation poses serious health risk and may contribute to outbreak of cholera in the town with the setting up of the rains, if nothing is done about it..
