“No Attipoe Transfer, No Vote”- La Youth Threaten Mahama

… Call On Attipoe To Respect Posting Instruction And Leave GARHC

Coalition of Ga-Dangme Youth has demonstrated through the principal streets of Labadi a suburb of Accra in protest against the entrenched position taken by the transferred Registrar of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs (GARHC), Harry Anthony Attipoe not to respect the transfer order.

The youth have thus launched their anger at government for not impressing upon the Regional House of Chief to enforce the transfer arrangement and thus allowing Harry Anthony Attipoe to continue in office.

The youth in their demonstration warned government to ensure that Attipoe leave or incur the wrath of the people on December 7.

They threaten to vote against the NDC and John Mahama if government seats aloft and see Attipoe violates the transfer instruction with impunity.

Bearing placards some of which read, “No Transfer, No Vote,” “We Want Attipoe Out,” “Attipoe Stop The Thievery, Leave GA,” “Council Of State Member, Adei Annang, Stay Off Attipoe’s Transfer,” “NDC’s Operation 1.5 million Votes In GA Will Not Materialize If Attipoe Continue To Stay,” the youth accused some government officials of taking interest in the transfer of Attipoe hence their unwillingness to ensure that the proper things are done.

Harry Anthony Attipoe was transferred per a posting instruction letter dated March 11, 2016 and the office of the President letter dated May 23, 2016.

According to the posting instruction letter Harry Anthony Attipoe is to go to the Volta Regional House of Chiefs to serve as the Registrar and will take over from Mr. Daniel A. Azah, whilst Emmanuel Addoquaye who was serving at the Central Regional House of Chiefs as Assistant Registrar will take over from Attipoe at the Greater Regional House of Chiefs.

However, he has refused to leave post. This development however generated series of petitions from La youth groups and some chiefs within the Region who are calling on him to leave so as to enable the incoming Registrar, Emmanuel Tetteh Addoquaye to take over.

However, a letter from the Ministry of Chieftaincy And Traditional Affairs dated August 12, 2016 after it received series of petition in that regard, the Minister ordered Harry Anthony Attipoe to leave post since his posting to the Volta Region “Still stands.”

“… You are therefore instructed to write a comprehensive handing-over notes and hand over to Mr Emmanuel Tetteh Addoquaye, Assistant National Registrar by Thursday, 18th August 2016.,” the Minister stated in that letter which was signed on his behalf by B. A. Adotey, Director PPME/HRM.

The said letter also made it clear that, Attipoe’s failure to proceed on his posting to the Volta Regional House of Chiefs will mean vacation of post.

Meanwhile, the youth are aggrieved at the continue stay of Atttipoe at the GARHC three months on, refusing to go.

The angry youth pointed out that they have decided to embark on demonstration because despite several letters affirming the registrars transfer by his sector Minister, the registrar, Harry Anthony Attipoe continues to disrespect his orders.

According to the Ga-Dangme Youth the situation is creating tension within the Ga Dangme area as the youth in the region are unhappy with the development.

They accused Harry Anthony Attipoe of trying to hijack the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs with his actions.
