The Motor Traffic and Transport Department [MTTD] of the Ghana Police Service have been urged to intensify checks on the highly on Commercial transport drivers who ply the road to ensure accident-free incidents during the celebration of yuletide in subsequent years.
The Minister in charge of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church at Agona Swedru in the Central Region, Assistant Bishop Augustine Nkum who gave the advice blamed carnage on the road during the period of Christmas celebration on negligence on the part of some drivers who capitalize on the large number of commuters travelling to various destinations to cash in and make financial gains.
He noted that under such situation, some drivers drive carelessly and at high speed just to make extra financial gains during the period, and in the process get involve in avoidable accident, killing innocent people.
He note that though the devil is always at work as it is believed, he said he does not share the believe that all accidents during such an occasion are the works of the devil as some have made it to be believed, stressing that human negligence on the part of most drivers are the cause of most of these road accidents.
He however commended the police of doing the best during such occasions and urged them not to hesitate to arrest and bring offending drivers to book to serve as deterrent to others.
