As part of efforts of bringing job opportunities to the door steps of Ghanaian especially women, the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations in partnership with Nekotech Center of Excellence has launched an initiative dubbed: “SOS Jobs4Women Ghana Summit”.
Speaking at the launching ceremony in Accra, the Minister for Employment and Labour Relations Hon. Ignatus Baffour – Awuah (MP) noted that the summit will attract both international and local stakeholders to utilise the Summit to address the high rate of unemployment not only in the urban areas but also in the rural areas working through their 30 plus labour centers nationally.
According to him, the president of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo is committed to gender parity. Recently in his state of union address, indicated 30% affirmative action for women in governance.
This he said, their government will embrace the SOS Jobs4women Ghana Summit and also invite Ghanaian companies to participate heavily in the hiring of qualified women in positions.[There are nearly 2.5 million engineers and technicians who will be needed in Sub- Saharan Africa alone in order for us have clean water and sanitation.
More so, the SOS Jobs4Women Ghana Summit initiative will enhance the achievement of sustainable development goals by 2030 as well as Agenda 2063 , set take place on June 10 to 11th 2017.
On June 10 to 11, 2017 all roads for women will lead to the Accra International Conference Center for the maiden jobs4women Ghana Summit under the auspices of the Ghana Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, organised by Nekotech Center of Excellence, in collaboration with Transfer2Transform Canada, Practical Employment Solutions USA, Blue Tongue Australia, TeamTime Company Saudi Arabia, the AU Diasporan African Forum, the Seed Funds Savings and Loans- Ghana, VIVABOX Ghana, the Level Changers of the University of Ghana Legon, and sponsored by SOS Labour Ghana Ltd, SOS Global Investments and the Holy Land Peace Fellowship of the USA.
The summit will feature employment seminars and workshops, dynamic speakers, panel discussions, breakout sessions, winning resume writing techniques as well as edutainment with a focus on women in technology, interviewing skills, networking training and mentorship.
On June 11, there will be a Peacefest musical experience from various groups and discussions of the work of women in ministry, music ministry and missionary work in Ghana and overseas sponsored by the Holy Land Peace Fellowship of the USA, Nekotech Royal Academy for Peace, and Covenant Glory of Ghana.
Employers from Ghana and overseas- vetted as committed to women’s empowerment – will be ready to interview and hire qualified women from the uneducated to PHD level. There will be a place for every woman – whether for decent jobs in Ghana or overseas!
In line with the Ghana Gender Ministry’s goals of empowering rural women, companies will be encouraged to look at rural branches to create jobs in those areas for our hardworking rural women.
There will be special rural entrepreneurial programs to help rural women. Nekotech will invite Diaspora women to participate to transfer knowledge and to come back home to seek jobs in Ghana.
The Jobs4Women Ghana Summit is sponsored by SOS Labour Ghana, Ghana’s first licensed and multiple award winning private employment agency established in 2007, a founding member of the Ghana Association of Private Employment Agencies – GHAPEA. The Jobs4Women Ghana Summit will kick off SOS Labour’s tenth anniversary celebrations.

The summit is organised by the award winning Nekotech Center of Excellence, a rural based NGO, founded by Rev Dr Ocansey of Ada, in partnership with several US based celebrities and Diasporans including the late Isaac Hayes, Denzel Washington, John Travolta, Tom Cruise, Nancy Cartwright- Voice of Bart Simpson and Rev Johnson of the World Literacy Crusade. Nekotech is a rural NGO headquartered in Ada, Ghana.
It’s projects are focused on the empowerment of Ghana’s rural communities in the areas of education, economic and spiritual empowerment, employment, entrepreneurial training and health care education, especially on HIV/AIDS prevention and orphan support.
Nekotech won the White House and Buckingham Palace recognition for its HIV/AIDS work and has received several global awards for its work.
